Iliyas A (Elias) was a Rasul (Messenger) of Allah (God).

Like other Rusul (Messengers) of Allah (God), Iliyas A (Elias) invited his people to the True Path when his people began to worship an idol named Ba’l. Only a handful of his people responded positively to his call.

And verily, Iliyas (Elias) was one of the Messengers.


When he said to his people: “Will you not fear Allah?


“Will you call upon Ba’l (a well known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators,


“Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”


But they denied him [Iliyas (Elias)], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment),


Except the chosen slaves of Allah.


And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations.


“Salam (peace) be upon Ilyasin (Elias)!”

Iliyas A (Elias) is also mentioned at another place in the Holy Qur-an.

And Zakariya (Zachariah), and Yahya (John) and ‘Isa A (Jesus) and Iliyas A (Elias), each of them was of the righteous.
