'Abdullah bin Khattab
R was one of the As-Sabiqun Al-Awwalun
(Early Muslims). He was a
brother of 'Umar bin Khattab
R and became a Muslim much before his brother.
His brother was an opponent of Islam before
becoming a Muslim. Later, 'Umar bin Khattab
R became a prominent Sahabi
(Comapnion of Muhammad S) and
also the second Khalifah
(Caliph) of Muslims after the
death of Abu Bakr R.
'Abdullah bin Khattab
R was the first Muslim to defy the Quraysh, and recite the Qur-an
aloud near the Ka'bah.

became an Ummul Mominin
(Mother of all Muslims) after
she was widowed.
Ummul Mominin
(Mother of all Muslims) is a
title given to the holy wives of the Messenger of Allah,

the year 2H (Hijrah) (623 AD), 'Abdullah bin Khattab
R participated in the battle of Badr. This was the first major battle between the
Quraysh of Makkah
and the Muslims. In the battle of Badr,
'Abdullah bin Khattab
R is said to have beheaded Abu Jahl

one of the worst enemies of Islam, Muslims
and the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad S.

was a maternal uncle of 'Abdullah bin
Khattab R was the commander-in-chief of the Quraysh
forces that came to attack Madinah.
